While on holiday in my home country, Slovakia I visited an antique shop where I bought some old photos. This pic caught my eyes because of the beautiful girl and the equally beautiful lace collar.
I discovered something else about the photo - the photographer was a woman, the Hungarian Emma Vancza. She even has her own Wikipedia entry. Born in 1863 into wealthy family, her artistic talent quickly showed up (painting and photography). She won the main awards on important exhibitions in 1885, 1891, or in 1896 on the Millenium Exposition for her tinted panoramatic landscape photographs of huge proportions - she certainly achieved lots as a woman in the late 19th century's Austro-Hungarian Empire!
In the bottom right corner is her embossed logo - third pic.

Thanks Kyra! To me the most interesting part is that woman was able to make a very successful career in that time's male dominated world!

My EX son-in law, is from Budapest.( loved him!!) He may have heard of her. He's in contact with us all thru Facebook daily. My daughter is sending her 18yr old son over to live with him awhile. he son looks exactly like hid dad--it 's been 5 years since they have been with eachother--Anyway--he is intereseted in art, and may find out some more.
She is so very dainty and refined looking and so pretty---and that collar!! Wonder if she made it!!

Hi, PostCardCollector - if your ex son-in-law is interested about a history of photography, he probably heard of her.
I hope his and your grandson's reunion will be success!!!
By the way thank you for nice comment :)
