Hello fellow collectors!!
We decided to venture out today and go to an old antique mall that's located in a very old barn here in central Kentucky. This barn has three levels of antiques and collectibles and it has a lot to see. So, you have to take your time and look very carefully, as not to overlook anything.
I spotted these old wool spats from the 1920's that were stashed in an old box. Had to have them to go with my other spats and Victorian era boots. These are made of wool and very thick, as were most spats I've seen.
These spats would, more than likely, have been worn by a child or a small person, as they're the smallest pair of spats that we've ever seen. I say that these are from the 1920's as that was when it was fashionable to wear spats.
We have a very small pair of Victorian era lady's boots and these spats were far too small to fit the lady's boots that we own.
The markers mark has been worn badly and has became unreadable. Only a number or letter here and there. So, I do not know who the manufacturer of these was. Nice addition to my collection though.
Thanks very much for stopping to have a look!!!
Scott

So small--could they be "Salesman Samples"? Made like the usual ones, all details intact. The manager orders fron what he sees in the sample.
Thanks PostCardCollector,
I too thought that at first. But,these have been well used, so I'd have to believe that someone small wore these several times. They appear to have possible fit a child's boot from back in the day. Thanks for the love and for stopping in. I do appreciate it very much!
trunkman,
Thanks very much for the appreciation and for stopping in. I do appreciate it very much!!
You are welcome js... have to say I never have come across any of these...
trunkman,
I've came across only two sets of these in the last 8 years. Not something I see many of in my treasure hunts.
Scott, these are great!!! We have a set similar to these and measuring down the length where the buttons are is just over 5 inches. How does this compare to the size of your ones?
Interesting Scott! Thanks for sharing!
Judy,
Thanks! These measure nearly 8" from button to button. But, these are a very narrow fit. Like I had said, we have a pair of lady's of Victorian era lady's boot and these wouldn't come close to fitting those.
Pops,
Thanks and very glad you stopped in!
Thomas,
Glendale is a great place to go, just a few minutes south of Elizabrthtown. They have lots of antiques and you can't leave without having lunch or dinner at the Whistle Stop restaurant. We go there often.
Thanks so very much for the loves and for taking time to stop by

I do appreciate you all!!!
Thanks Scott, I tried my spats on a pair of my victorian style boots this morning and they are too narrow to do the buttons up too, but at least I could get the general idea of how they should look, which was great!!

My dad loved spats and that was before the war! Mom teased him about being such a trendsetter!
These are wonderful!
Mary,
I'd say they looked very stylish, even classy, back then. Thanks so much for stopping in.
courtenayantiques,
Thanks! What is so unusual about these is the small size. I've not seen a pair this small until I found these. Thanks for the love, the comment and for stopping by. I do truly appreciate it!
Hi Scott! Yet another new item for my nimble brain. I had to google spats. Never heard of or seen these but OMG, they're great!!
