Wanted to share this 1979 Realistic 8 Track Player w Copy function.
I remember making weekly trips to Radio Shack to check out the new electronics and this was always on my list of nice stuff. Found this today at a Yard Sale for a dollar. I have to check it out to see if it still works but it looks great. These were mostly made in Japan with metal parts, as opposed to the newer plastic parts. I remember listening to the oldies, 1960s- 197os rock and roll with these fantastic machines. This actually had the copy function so you could record your favorites.
These went for about 189.00 brand new back then in the "Rat Shack".
Sadly these only were popular for a few years because cassettes were already becoming more entertaining for most people.
    Hope you enjoy.

Realistic was actually not a bad brand, it was pretty reliable. I remember going to NYC in 2006 and noticing several stores which were taking another look at the great electronics from the 70's to 80's and also the new products coming out. Glad you rescued this !

Ah Yes, the good ole 8 track. I still have one that is an all in one. am/fm/8 track, and turntable. I even have the 8 track to casset adapter for it, but never use it. Radio Shack was Great for small electronic componets, but never ever buy a big dollar item, as they were all small Ma and Pa Franchises, and did not want any returned items, Period. I still see boxes of 8 track tapes at yard sales on occasion in my area, but always pass. Do you remember when Audiovox came out with the discrete 4 channel 8 track players? I was one of the first to install one in my truck, but the selection of 4 channel tapes was slim, and the fad died soon. Very Nice Keepsake You Have!

I loved the Realistic electronics. They were definetly a good brand especially considering the very cheap stuff being manufactured nowadays.
Thanks for the love, comments and stopping by.

I do remember the Audiovox brand. Pretty decent. I also come across 8 track tapes very often. Fun to look at.
Thanks for the love and comments.
