Here is a great discount card probably from around 1960. It was for 20% off at Grossman's Department Store of Muskegon, Michigan (my town, hence why I snatched it up in a heart-beat).
I'm assuming Lohman was an employee, hence why this item exists (much like my badge gets me 10% off).
What is interesting, beyond it being all there, is that it was never signed.
Grossman's had burned down in 1937 and rebuilt, then closing its doors like many other businesses in the depression of the '70s (specifically, the store closed in 1972).
Technically this is a token, so it fits into my coin collection.
This is a Charge Plate which is a precursor to the plastic credit cards of today. The fact that she got a 20% discount most likely indicates that she was an employee.
That's what I figured.
I think it's awesome. Something like that still being around is fantastic.
I'm thinking it was little used.
