    Hello, This Was My Dads Old Knife, It Was Made By Joseph Fenton & Sons Shefield, It Measures 13 1/2" Long, I Would Like To Know What It Was Used For And Roughly How Old Is It, Any Information Would Be Good, Thanks Shea

      It is a butcher's knife. Joseph Fenton originated in 1795. "Sons" were added later. The mark is still used but since 1968 it is owned by Gregory Fenton, Ltd., Sheffield, England. Your knife could have been made any time after about 1860 (based on the style) IF it was originally sold in England; but only up to 1891 IF it was retailed in the US. After that date the word "England" would have had to be included on the blade for sale in the US.

      Great id UncleRon. There's a word before Sheffield which I can't read. Do you know what it is. Also the marks above the name, do they indicate the maker (silly question), and the place?
