I am not sure how old this hand crafted articulated silver gilt koi fish is- but I think it may be a Chinese export?
Marked silver on the inside of its mouth has turquoise eyes and
6.5 cm long.

You're right, Betty, Chinese export filigree. They can be used as pomander, with a perfume impregnated tissue inside :-)

I did a Bing search for Chinese export filigree and a fish like this was listed on Ruby Lane as a pillbox and priced at $125.00. So grateful you posted this as I have a piece of jewelry I've been trying to identify and was having a hard time. I hadn't seen Chinese silver filigree before.

I picked the cute little fish up for five dollars at a garage sale as I thought he was so interesting and in good form along with an elephant pendant which I cannot figure if he is carved from bone or something else. Another one for you kyra!(please:)
