What a beauty! I'm thinking English, around 1840, but that's only a feeling...

Are there any hallmarks ?? Normally found inside around where the lid closes ??
      Stunning case!

It's a beautiful 19th century piece! Take a good look at the house, the brick wall and the pair of trees beyond it; that could possibly help identify the country. If there are any hallmark, they would probably be on the metal parts, sometimes they are really small. On a side note, my dog also howls in exactly the same way every time someone plays a recorder /flute :D
