This is a 9ct chain with 20+ ct hoops to attach the precious stones. I know for certain that the pearls are real and the biggest stone in the centre is a ruby and polished, due to colour and seeing others. I believe some of the other stones may be different, I am not sure if the clear stone is an uncut diamond or what it is as I am unable to find my diamond tester. I have seen these type of necklaces on string and they are ancient, but most have now been placed on gold chains (not a good thing). I am unsure when this was made and would like to know, it is smashing and something I cherish and will leave to my son. I am not the best at giving ct weights but at a guess at least 5ct plus. My knowledge on jewellery is not very good but I know when any article is good over the board. Please let me know when this was made and did they make this type of jewellery in 18, 19c as the only type with uncut stones I can find are on string are ancient most have now been converted. Please Efesgirl help your my only hope (Star Wars pun intended). When I test the clear stone I will let you know, colour of the centre stone is a red/purple does not look like that from pictures. All gold has been tested and in my knowledge 20+ ct gold hoops mean quality. The chain being 9ct makes me believe they may have been paired at some point. Chain is a choker length 16-17" approx can't find my tape. I hope you like it as much as I do efesgirl. As you know it is not unusual to see unmarked jewellery of this type.
You have good taste flea finder in precious stones alone at scrap value it would make a nice few quid. Centre stone is approx 1.2ct converted on Google. 8mm X 8mm X 2.7mm, I purchased on EBay for forty pounds with a collection of costume, there was over 100 items in there as well as this and another pair of diamond stud earrings which I sold for ten times my original buying price. There was other silver pieces and mostly costume.
Gold ranges from 8 ct to 24 ct, depending on which country the item was made.

Don't be too sure about the center stone being a ruby, because it can easily be a garnet. Garnets come in a range of colors. Very unlikely that the frosted stone is a diamond. A gemologist can give you a positive ID. Unless you have a very strong diamond tester, you can get a false reading with some stones. That frosted stone looks like an afterthought, as the necklace isn't aesthetically balanced. There are more stones on one side of the main stone than on the other side. Can't really tell you much about when it was made. Could be from the 1920s...or not. With no maker's marks it's just guesswork based on the design. Not possible to know if a necklace like that one was also made using other grades of gold. This necklace could have been made by a jewelry maker who did it at their home workshop using pieces from other necklaces to create this one. No way to know because it's unmarked and there is not really anything to use for comparison. You don't say how you acquired it.
Your necklace is recent and this type of jewelry is in style right now. A craftsperson made it from various components and probably made the clasp, too; the frosted bead is crystal. Faceted stones like yours without any setting is a current trend and is not found on antique necklaces. It's a delicate and beautiful piece and very much in fashion now.
Cheers davyd286, thank you for your help I knew you would come through for me.
