I think this is a very important bottle. Why? Because it combines the typical paintings of Liu Qiao (the women under the tree) with a frequently seen warrior painting that until now has been attributed to Yong Shoutian.
The quandry about the warrior bottles has been that:
1. The style of the art was not the same
2. Most were signed with what was called a "second signature." The word for Shou was a newer pinyin version of the character, and not how Yong Shoutian signed his earlier bottles.
But unlike all the other warrior bottles, this one is signed Liu Qiao. So that leads me to believe that these were actually done by Liu Qiao - who was a student of Yong Shoutian.
So I am calling this the "key" bottle because I think it unlocks the mystery of who actually painted the second signature warrior bottles that until now have been attributed to Yong Shoutian.
Many thanks to Libby (another Collector's Weekly member) who sold me this bottle!
This is a extra large mother bottle, measuring 8.5 cm tall!
Beautiful!!!
