An interesting necklace, thrift store find. No signature. The beads are strung on chain, and from what I understand this is a sign of higher quality jewelry. The necklace is cca 70 cm long. I also have a feeling that the closure is not original.
The material is interesting as well, its plastic, with nice tiny swirls inside. The beads are not heavy and its not bakelite. Now, why should someone string plastic beads on chain? Because of better durability? Do you know more about this type of necklaces?
P.S. Mystery solved thank to davyd286 - the beads are from "ivorine" or "french ivory"
Strange,' perhaps a re do after the sting broke...) but so nice :-)
I love the screw/hidden clasp!
Kyra, I now inspected the closure again and I have a feeling that its not original, so maybe you are right!
I think it's pretty. Someone did a very good job with it.
Thank you!
It is very nice Lentilka!!!
Thank you TassieDevil!
Thank you! Me, too! They are very light. Might it be celluloid?
No this is plastic
It looks all original to me. Take a close look at the direction of the "grain" on the beads - could be tinted ivory or at least "ivorine" or "French ivory" - related to Bakelite.
davyd286, thank you a lot! I googled the ivorine beads and they look pretty much the same to me... so it could be the ivorine indeed.
Thank you!
here, this looks the same
