Another charity shop find, this cost me £8.
I took it apart, but can find no markings of gold purity, nevertheless I believe this is a high carat solid gold, when opening a small flake came away that was solid gold colour throughout, and none of the several wear marks have shown any wear throught to any backing metal.
It is quite heavy, with a lovely finish. The maker, Bucherer, are well-known for their high quality pendant watches, mostly in solid gold and with enamels and jewels.
I would date this to circa 1960.
Solid gold doesn't flake. Gold plating flakes. The gold bail which would normally have a chain through it is plated base metal. There are no hallmarks. Buchere would not be so careless as to not mark/register their gold watches.
Sorry, not gold.
This is an example of the gold markings/serial number on a Bucherer 18k gold pendant watch:

Efe, thanks for the remarks and the link.
I see what you mean, but when I said flakes, I meant that the blade of the case opener I used (sharp) took off a flake of metal. There was no base metal behind the flake, just more gold metal.
The metal ring for a chain is a replacement, the original was missing. The empty case when the movement is out is very heavy still.
Thanks for the loves everyone.
You're welcome. The other possibility is that it's gold filled.
