Found this little 8"x 5" beauty at Salvation Army this morning. Wonderful heavy enameling with four gilt floral panels of roses. Don't know why the photo shows them as dark but they are bright gold in real life. There are a few flakes to the enamel on the underside of the neck and unfortunately the decorated matching stopper has a big chip to it's underside. Somehow it doesn't matter though. Just having the stopper at all is a plus and it's not that visible when it's in place. The bottom has a huge ground pontil and the clear glass shows just a bit of iridescence. There are no marks or signatures to the bottle however the stopper has a faintly etched European "7" with the line through it on it's end. Not sure about it's origin or maker. Czech, English, French ?? We were discussing it at the antique mall and we all are somewhat undecided . I'll go with Bohemian but I can see the other influences as well. Chances of pinning down the exact maker are probably slim though. -Mike-

Thanks so much Pops....one of my friends at the antique mall is already interested in it. She doesn't even mind the chips saying "it's been used and had a life and still a beautiful piece. I told her I'd like to post it first and try to ID it then maybe I'd part with it . :)

The "7" may be the stopper size. It's really pretty.

Thanks Martika. It was one of those surprises that catches your eye as you're scanning the store shelves.

That' so pretty. I get a French vibe but that is based on no actual knowledge!!

Thanks Karen me too...it's the pink with the roses plus the gilding. Although the bottle shape and cut outs remind me of Bohemian. Of course then there's Austria and Germany and England.... it's quite the chameleon . :)

very beautiful indeed it seems bohemian for me

Thanks Kivatinitz...I've seen the term"Persian enamel" used to describe similar pieces by Moser and Lobmeyr so Bohemian seems like a good fit. It would be great if this piece was from their factory. :)

So nice Mike, I can't believe the lovely items you find at your Salvation Army! Ours has nothing but junk :-(

Thank you Rick :) It really still does surprise me what people will donate without a thought as to whether it has value or not. Especially today with the internet and how easy it is to research things.
