1920s Flapper Pillowcase Vintage Embroidered With Hair and Jewels
1920s Flapper Pillowcase with pillow. Hand done embroidery embellished with jewels, a pearl, and hair which may be real. The color appears to be hand tinted.
Measurements - Approx. 16"x16" including the ruffle. Pillow is 3" thick.

Is it possible to have a look at the inside of the pillowcase, maybe we can finger out how the hair was sewn.
Looking at the pillow again, I think it's not probably possible to see the work from the inside.

Wow, it's certainly been hand stitched. You can see the effort someone has gone to, from the back, to have make this wonderful piece. Whether the hair is real, I have no idea, but in my personal opinion it's a wonderful, lovely item.
Peasejean, I REALLY appreciate your comments. I thought that this was wonderful as soon as I saw it. It goes so well with the French art-deco pillow with the smoking male that I posted here awhile back. Thanks again!

Lovely piece!
The hair is mohair and it came in sheets with the waves in it . It was likely glued on . Same hair was used on inexpensive dolls vs mohair made into a fine wig .
