So I have had this one for quite some time and I love it and it's one visitors and friends comment on regularly. I'm pretty sure of my attribution and decor here so I don't expect a full blown discussion. Just a show-off and tell.
A matt finish to this one, which I prefer to some of the gloss finishes. Interestingly although the rim and handles appear to be dense matt black. The black from the base seems to be achieved by using a dark cobalt blue over the red spatter...
A good sized piece, stands 7.5" (19cm) and 8.5" (21.3cm) wide
That one looks like an Orange Shimmy if you ask me.
I really like the satin finish on these; you posted a great example, Phil.
Thank you Michelle!
wonderful
Are there any marks? I just bought something very similar and it has the faintest marks, as if some form of resist was applied to the body of the vase. Similarly on the base. Very much akin to the Daum mark that Michelle recently posted on a satin baluster vase that has never been linked to Ruckl - but I'm not suggesting for a minute that Daum made this.
Can anyone suggest ways of making similar marks show up? I am going to try different sorts of light this evening!
Not obviously to the naked eye ... but I'll take you on on experimenting and let you know. Just going to take it outside in the bright sunshine!
Well that didn't show anything up, apart from dust, really must put this one behind glass! What I would say though Ian is that with age, these satin vases do tend to pick up some rather unusual/strange marks on the surface unlike hard gloss finished pieces which I can only assume are more resistant to marking unlike these satin finished pieces
