Hi, I'd Like To Know More About This If Anyone Can Help, I'm Usually A Mad Glass Collector But Do Pick Up Anything That Catches My Eye & I Have A Few Crucifixes & This One I Found In A Charity Shop The Other Day ... I Don't Know Much At All About Pottery So Any Information Would Be Fantastic ... It's 14 & 1/2 Inches Tall A Quite Heavy, Very Little Crazing But Quite Grubby ... I'd Rather Leave It A Little Dirty Than Wash More Paint Off ... It Looks Real Old, Maybe 1900-1920 ??? At A Wild Guess ... There's No Makers Marks That I Can See ... Cheers Mark
Hi, I love the angels on this piece. It has the look of an early piece of English Staffordshire pottery from around 1800. There were many makers who fell under the 'Staffordshire' region and the majority of pieces were not marked. The fact it has an indented solid base is quite promising as repro pieces have different bases. I hope that helps a bit it definitely looks worthy of more research!! Best Wishes & Good Luck !! Kitty
Just a quick hunt on google brought up this site that sells some early Staffordshire religious figures, like the following which is of a similar style dating from c1850 : http://www.barbaragair.com/379h.htm
Yours is much nicer I think.
Best Wishes!!

Hi Kitty, Thank You So Much ... I Can See Now It Has A Similar Look To The Staffordshire Dogs ... & The Other Religious Figures Are Definitely Much Like This One ... I Had No Idea It Was English Or Quite That Old ... I Had Googled Religious Pottery & Found Nothing Similar ... Cheers For The Help & Mystery Solved ...
