This adorably cute cowgirl on a pony picture was taken around 1976 in front of the Fernandez Mansion in Pinole, Ca. And the cowgirl is me when I was 6 years old. My friends family lived in the mansion and I lived in the apartments across the street. People used to come around and let you take pictures on a pony. I already knew how to saddle, shoe & ride a horse thanks to my friend across the street. They had a funny horse named Ohara that let itself out of the barn and I saw her walking down the street so I put her back in her stall. But she was a smart horse so I'm sure she got out many times. We used to ride her together into town or down the fire trail. Sometimes bareback and sometimes with the saddle. But awesome memories for me, so much fun.

OH! How precious and you still have a sweet little girl look now!!
There was a pony ride in my neighborhood too when I was little like you (Chicago) My mom would cringe when I got off and would not stop kissing it on the mouth!
!My daughters were presented a horse & baby mule by grandma and when the mule was trained by my daughter Linda, with the horse-- was rode all over town--Dooley (Mule)& Angel (Horse)-- They had a great time with the riding and taking care- then they started dating.'Nuff said!

Martika yes childhood was good while I was living with my Grandmother from age 4-7. But when I was 6 my father died and then I went back to live with my Mother at age 7. Childhood was not always fun with my Mother. But it wasn't all bad either. My mother died when I was 18 and she was 45. I will always miss her.
