    (367 items)

Fred Johnson had been a thrower for Niloak prior to joining the crew at Bauer in 1934. At Bauer, he threw a distinctive line of garden and art ware. Shown in the picture are most (not all) of the shapes and three (all) of the blues used. Pieces can be found in several sizes and all Bauer colors.

From left to right - 8" rose bowl, Monterey blue, hand-thrown; 5" stovepipe vase, delph blue, jiggered in two pieces and slipped together; 6" #214 waisted vase, Monterey blue, hand-thrown; 16" garden vase, delph blue, hand-thrown; 10" #215 oil jar, Monterey blue, hand-thrown; 10" #213 vase, turquoise, hand-thrown.

The undersides are generally trimmed with a dry foot and never marked (with the exception of a short run cast ware version of the "stovepipe").

Bauer introduced the "Hi-Fire" line (which included Fred Johnson's hand-thrown items) in 1938 and they were produced until he retired in 1950.
