Wax Japanese fishermen in a sampan

This is a very, very old wax depiction of what looks like Japanese fishermen in a sampan. The figurine is about 9 1/2 inches long and very, very fragile. It has been in the family so long that no one can remember exactly where it came from. It is shades of brown, but I have lightened the figures to make them more visible. I would appreciate anyone who can ID it or tell me where to take it to ID it. We think it is museum quality, but we would like to get confirmation of that and learn more about it.
