According to the seller this is a desk set and I am thinking that it is. Looks to be depression glass due to the color and the straw marks. It has been a bit since I picked up some pink depression glass. I see a lot but rarely something I want at the right price.
Given that this is a desk set one of the bowls on this would be an inkwell.
For those who recall my attempt to clean up my desk the cigar boxes have been replaced with 50 gallon oil drums. Hopefully this piece will help in my desk organization.

Excellent question Glassgaga. It looks like a crack or a scratch but it is a mold defect. It should just be on one side of the glass, if it goes all the way through it is actual crack which is bad.
Note it has nothing to do with straw. It has to do with what happens to the glass before it is placed in the mold. It can stretch and cool just bit and makes the mark.
Depression glass tends to have defects as it was sold very cheaply and has bubbles etc. Nice thing about a straw mark is that it tends to ID as depression glass.

what is commonly called 'straw' marks may be the result of several things, none of which concern straw. The most common of these are shear marks; the result of the 'glob' of glass being cut by the shears while being 'poured' into the mold and leaving the mark where the cold shears cut the hot glass. Then there may also be mold imperfections.

Thank you again glassgaga. And thank you TallCakes. Your explanation is better than mine.
