Thanks to PROFESSORHERITAGE, ELIZABETHAN and KYRATANGO I have a name to start my research. I haD to admit total ignorance about this item. It does have some age. The beads are glass ... 30 strands in the centresection and 20 strands in the side sections. The ivory looking beads are carved and have roundel coverings at both ends.
Length in total is 82 cm or 32 ".
Naga Necklace made of glass beads from the Konyak Tribe, Nagaland, north-eastern part of INDIA. The necklace is known as 'Lickshup' in Konyak tribe dialect. Konyak is a Sino-Tibetan language spoken by the Konyak people of Nagaland, northeastern India.
Thanks again for the comments THOMAS !!!
A brilliant blue.
Hello Vetraio. I don't have an answer for you but I have a bone necklace that have pierced or carved holes like yours. I bought it together with a nother bone necklace that I'm certain about it's japanese origin. Therefore I thought they both were. When I see your necklace it doesn't look japanese to me. It looks like necklaces I have seen from several countries in Africa. Lets hope someone can share more light on this....
That's beautiful~! No help here on it's origins, however. I made a Google Image search and didn't find any necklaces which resemble yours.
Hi Kevin!
I think India :-)
I had a image search with terms "seedbeads and bone necklace India" and found one at Etsy, but dead link...
Many thanks KYRATANGO, EFESGIRL, ELISABETHAN, FORTAPACHE & TASSIEDEVIL !!!! I'll just let it roll .... if you guys don't know then I don't know who will but let's see what happens.
Many thanks CAPERKID, MARTIKA & MIKELV !!! !! ! !! !!!
just to keep things interesting, i'll add that i have some similar necklaces i purchased in Ecuador and Bolivia. not sure where the are - somewhere in my warehouse. the bone doesn't look familiar, but the way the beads and clasp are held looks the same.
Same here, they say coral... Tibet.

Thanks HO2CULTCHA, KAREN , NIGEL &KYRATANGO !!!!
I think they said Tibetan because they thought too it is coral (no, glass seed beads!)
:-D
I still think India...
They are not south american. They are a traditional Nepalise tribal wear. In recent times companies have been importing them. They give local population a vital new industry.
