This and its sister piece came with our house 30 years ago.
The ball-and-claw foot and curved leg appeared to be in the style of Chippendale, but as best as I can tell it has machine-made screws (a screw fell out of the other one, and did not appear to match what I read about hand-made screws); which I thought were too recent for this dresser to be of that original era.
The drawers come out all the way, no stops in them.
"690" carved into the rear (toward the wall) of the dresser surface, with an evenness the resembles stenciling, except it is carved rather than painted. I don't know how that can be done without a powered machine, though I don't know much about tools.
No letters or numbers that I could see on the back of the mirror anywhere.
It's quite heavy. 22"L 36"H 56"W
I'm interested to know everything you can tell me about this, and also curious what type of wood it is.
I also have a tall dresser with cabinet doors over the drawers that is a sister piece to this, please check that post out if it will help with figuring out what this is.
Great chippendale dresser. Looks to be around the 1940's, a beautiful set !~
