Saved this from going into the bin! Was at a secondhand shop and they had a delivery. Just about to bin it as it was covered in dust. It was so beautiful and a shame so I offered to buy it.
I can see that it was not always a table lamp, I suspect it was a figure or even a candle holder. From the fitting (Tucker Telac) the lamp was converted in the early 20th century, however I get the feeling the elephant might be older.
The Elephant looks to be handpainted. It says italy at the bottom with a Arrow mark. Can anyone tell me who the maker is? Company? Rough date?
