Art Nouveau period lady looking into her mirror large key/pin tray
made of pewter and nicely made it is large at approx 15" X 9" X 5"
Item is unmarked but of a nice quality and has that
Things which are made from this sort of age are my favourite, as they are always easy to get rid of, Nuevo, deco, arts & craft pieces. This particular lady is not something I would usually think of keeping but it looks nice in the kitchen and holds my phone, wallet and keys. So it stays for the meanwhile and it has the look I like. Any info on this item would be useful I would presume this to be British but would like to know if this was always meant to be a pin tray and if someone has seen one before, also if you have any idea of the maker. Purchased today off an old lady who collects with two other items another Nuevo brass & glass ink well and a super French Victorian stone set canary in cage music box. They was not really cheap I paid £100 but they definately was not dear, as the canary music boxes are not cheap. I will upload them soon, anyway the lady was over the moon with the money and told me that when she decides to sell some more pieces she will let me know, she has the biggest & best collection of Art Deco China I have ever seen in one place mostly Clarice Cliff bizarre. I will let you know when I buy it.

      Hi Lee,

It's a beautiful piece to be sure. Unfortunately she has lost her right hand that held a pen. I would disagree with the info on Deltabs link, she's not reading a book, she was writing a letter.

Nonetheless, a very attractive item indeed.

The mark is said to be on a "tendril", of which there are many. Can you find it?

      All the best -
