Hello fellow collectors!!!
You've seen some of my collar and cuff boxes in previous posts. But, here's a leather drawstring collar bag. Something that few of us have seen many of. This one is from around 1920. It's still full of collars from that period.
The collar bag is still in really nice condition for it's age. The collars are a bit discolored from age, but, since I'll never be wearing these collars, I'm good with that.
Few of these have survived over the years as the leather is so extremely soft and many were put away in hot attics or damp basements and the leather would just deteriorate. This one needed minimal attention, so someone has taken good care of it thru the years.

These are becoming more rare all the time. The leather is so soft that most have deteriorated from being stored in hot attics or damp basements. So, they must be kept in an environmentally controlled space in order to keep these for other generations to enjoy as well.

Yep, there were collar boxes and collar bags. The bags were primarily used from 1900 forward. Thanks for the comment!
