    Hello everyone.

I have had this Aide Memoire for 8 years now having bought it at a market for $5.00.
I am not sure if it is ivory as I don't have anything to compare it to.
I have seen similar ones on line sold as 19th century Cantonese Carved Ivory, as well as Card Cases and Cigarette Cases made with the same looking style......and all called carved Ivory.

Basically this is just a glorified note book with a carved front and back, with thin leaves which fan out to have notes written on (in pencil) and erased and used again.
    It measures 3 & 1/2 inches high x 1 & 1/2 inches wide. Thickness is 1/4 inch.

Anyway, I think it is a terrific item and look forward to hearing your thoughts or comments or info on this one! Thanks, Judy
UPDATE: Confirmed with thanks to Kyra, to be Cantonese Carved Ivory.

      An absolute bargain Judy!
Ivory, of course! And as you found out, Canton work.

The wafer thin sheets are perfect, thisvis the first of this I see :-) more often card cases and little boxes and fans.

Hi Bonnie, thanks...... I knew that lol....just forgot that I knew, isn't that terrible when that happens LOL!!
Glad you love it, I was almost having a heart attack, the seller grabbed it from me saying "it opens you know" and trying to force it open... and me jumping around trying to pay him so he would give it to me and saying no no!! I will open it when I get home!!! fortunately he did not break it, or open it!

Thanks so much Pascale for the confirmation , so good to have that...... I wasn't sure what is was at the market that I was buying....it just looked interesting, and then the seller grabbed it so I really didn't get to inspect it until I got home......lol and then I had to work out how to open it!!!!
Glad I could show you something not too common! I haven't seen any others in the flesh either.
