Old necklace from pretty red translucent plastic beads and tiny yellow glass beads. It is cca 44 cm long. It was bought in a thrift shop (someone from my family knows that I like old jewelry so they bought it for me). The beads are strung on white thread. The plastic feels light. It is not bakelite, Simichrome turns dark pink.
I wondered why someone should go through this complicated beading just because of plastic beads, and I originally wanted to re-use the beads for my own projects. Now I think that this necklace could be older than I originally thought. Do you think that this could be possibly an old flapper necklace from 1920-1930s?
Thank you a lot Ms.CrystalShip!
Thank you valentino97! Still earlier than I originally thought.
I use to gift handmade jewelry as this is a nice gift. If you give to people, it will return to you somewhere. I really did not think that my colleagues will bring me LOT of their old costume jewelry afterwards seeing this is my hobby. Mostly they wanted to clean their house and its not worth much to be honest, but it is so nice from them anyway!
Flapper or not, it looks well made and the design is consistent with the Art Deco style. The plastic would need to be looked at closely to determine whether it's a period piece. And are those four stacks of 7 disc beads or 4 solid beads?
Thank you davyd286! They are 7 disc beads.
valentino97 some kind friends you have!
lentilka, I hope that was not meant to sound sarcastic? (that word order)
Ah, sorry, does it sound sarcastic? It was not meant to. That is only my english (blush)
No worries, I knew you meant it as a compliment to val.
I could do better pics, they are not the best quality. I was lazy with photos recently
