I am wondering about the age and type of wood. It weighs a ton for a little table/stool. I do not know much about Asian furniture. I found this in a charity shop for $5.00.

What indicates that it's Asian ? Looks like oak to me.

I just thought the shape and the carved bats seem Asian. It also has a red wax seal on the underside. Thanks for liking it blunderbuss2.

I don't see much age on it. Looks to be late 20th century to me.
