Here is a large galalith brooch (approx. 3" 1/2) by French jewelry designer Marie-Christine Pavone, probably dating from the 1980's. I bought it on Price Minister a few weeks ago for 12 €.
This piece is part of what Pavone calls her "old series". They were designed and made at the beginning of Pavone's career in the early to mid eighties, hence the "old series" description. They were very labour intensive, so not produced in commercial amounts. They are extremely limited in number, with only a few examples of each one made. A few of the designs are based on the works of 20th century artists such as Picasso, Pollock, Miro, Delaunay etc. They are all completely hand made and hand painted, using old Galalith. I live the lively colours and naive shapes of Pavone's jewelry.
Thank you for introducing a new artist! Btw, what does "bought it on Prime Minister" mean?
Thanks for your comments! Sorry, I should have explained: Price Minister is a French website where you can buy second end items... :)
