Did you take the ring for precious metal testing? 875 is the Soviet equivalent of silver. Possible that it's gold plated silver.
It's has the stamp on 21 k
It's designed in the Classical Revival style and could have been made in Greece. If you can't find even the tiny manufacturer's mark, it could be a custom piece made to order if the gold content can be verified.
Well a jewellery maker had told me it's Italian and verify it as 21k gold, I don't know if it's "order peice" my dad had got it from auction that was made on jewellery shop that was shutting down
I had search a lot in gold market, not all jewellery makers have knowledge about the design, most of them had told me it's Indian, but it's far from the Indian design also there is a man on the stone
Lovely intaglio ring!!! I don't know much about jewellery, but I very much like it!!!
The design on the stone is called Intaglio and are often depicted as soldiers. Auction items without any history or some sort of identification are often untraceable. Your ring has no specific marks besides the gold mark. It could be Italian, or it could be Greek as Davyd286 said. Jewelry shops do take in second hand gold items, so it's entirely possible that someone turned in the ring for cash. Thus, the jeweler happened to have it in the shop when the business closed down and the stock was auctioned off. I seriously doubt that any more information on your ring will be discovered.
I love this ring so much, I never saw a peice like it in the market, I wanted to know more about it, but some facts stay unknown
The style of your ring is consistent with what could be made in Italy but they have a strict hallmarking system and we would see different marks than 21k. India and Middle East use high carat gold more often, so it's a definite possibility but would not be my first guess because of the design.
