    received from an old friend, no other information available unfortunately.

    The lever can turn around, rotating the middle bar. The middle bar is not round complelety, as if you can slide something in it (e.g. piece of paper). When turning the lever, it will fold/roll up the paper. The lever and attached middle bar can be taken out completely by pulling on the side of the lever.

    anyone any ideas what this might be?

      thanks for your answer... could you help me understand why one would want to do that? It seems to me it's easier to have them folded square for reading/transporting/archiving? thank you :-)
