I spent two weeks in Chile and could not avoid searching for my beloved 1930s items. Chile's capital Santiago has two big flea markets (Persa Bio-Bio and Persa Balmacedo) and some antique shops worth visiting. I found this nice 1930s arrow shaped one way sign and brought it back with me. It reads "Tránsito" meaning "Traffic" written in a beautiful art deco typeface and measures 27" x 11". The lines and letters are embossed. The third picture shows one of these signs at the corner of Alameda Street with Bandera Street in 1939, in Santiago, Chile. The last one shows it again as well as a double-arrow one, both at the right side of the picture.

Phil, it is already on the wall! It was a great find, also 'cause I could find photographs that show it being used in the 30s. Found it in a huge warehouse owned by the Carozza family. They sell antiques since the 50s. Check their website to see how big the place is (in Spanish): http://antiguedadescarroza.cl/quienes_somos.html
It took me hours to find something I could bring back home.

Thanks for the really interesting link, mcheconi, the store is massive which is a rarity, like a large antique mall. I loved the iron beds and the religious artefacts the most of all the sections, would love to see it. Again, your finds there are miraculous with all the items to go through !

The straffic signal is great, big size and solid material, great photos as well.
Look at the full ómnibus (bus), lol! Santiago starting to be a very important South American city.
Thanks so much for share with us!
