Posting this on behalf of my brother & sister-in-law. Does anyone have any information about this New Haven clock? Year, value, etc.? They refer to it as a schoolhouse clock, is that accurate?

      Hi,
Yes, these clocks are commonly referred to as "School House Clocks". It looks to me like you may have what New Haven called their 10 inch (Dial), Small Drop Octagon fitted with an 8-day time movement and an alarm. According to my reference material (Tran Duy Ly, "New Haven Clocks & Watches" page 167) it came in Rosewood or Zebra and is from circa 1886. This clock originally listed for $6.30 which would have been about $150 in 2010. If I've identified your clock correctly, Ly most recently appraised this model at $400 in 2000. That would be full retail for an example in mint original condition. In today's market, you probably would be doing very well to get $125 at auction. It's a nice looking, clean clock. Someone has taken very good care of it. Hope this helps. Best regards, Bruce

One more thing, as the label states, even though it has an alarm, this was considered to be a "Time Piece" not a "Clock" since it doesn't have a strike or chime.

Bruce, thanks a million! Would your reference book happen to have any information on the Seth Thomas ship clock that I also have posted? Click my name and scroll down, it's after this clock.

SMD, It's always nice to hear back and you're most welcome!
I don't have much experience with Ship Clocks but I'll be happy to take a look.
