Don't really know what this cast iron press is for and my thought is a huge clove of garlic grown for Gulliver! Or maybe the Jolly Green Giant. One or the other ;)
The lady said it was for potatoes but it's called a ricer??? That makes no sense to me. Unless it's for potato pancakes? What are your thoughts on it? Would love to know.
Thanks.
LOL it's a potato ricer.

Well!!! there you go!!! Never heard of one before!!!!
You are right Bonnie, I just came back on to fix that or add that to the post. Ha! What I read was that a potato masher or a mixer, if you mash your potatoes that way, you start a reaction with the starch and they can come out gooey. This way they are "mashed" evenly. Another one said something about never peeling a potato again! Crazy name. Potato ricer!!! Thanks for the info.
Tassie, I've never heard of it either! Now we have! Thanks for the love and comment.
Thanks ravage, mike and fort! Much appreciated.
You're welcome!
Great find!! I've heard of potato ricers, but I've never seen one until now. Very cool!
I say "spätzlepress".
Mr J. I haven't. It just got donated to a buyer of mine but before I send it I'm going to clean it up for her then I'll use it to see if I like it. There's another one similar to this at the place where I found it...I think I got the best one but if I like it, I may just go back and get the other one...it's red and I think aluminum. Thanks for stopping by.
Elisabethan..."spätzlepress"??? I like that! Do you use one? It seems to be easy to use. I wonder if the potatoes actually taste different with that starchy reaction I read about...I've never heard of that either. Guess the secret's out now and I'll find out if I've been eating starchy potatoes all my life...haha
Yes, it could also be used to make spätzle.
Used to make gnocchi too.
T A
Ok so what is spätzle and gnocchi??? I'll look it up!
Thanks everyone for the love. I do appreciate it ;)
Woooh! Never heard of potato ricer before!
