I found this antique glass biscuit barrel and would love to identify the maker. The biscuit barrel is 6 inches tall not including the lid and about 6 1/2 inches at the widest part. The glass has an iridescent sheen and looks like uranium glass but doesn't glow much under black light. The glass is smooth on the inside while the outside is textured. The lid is unmarked as is the glass - there is no pontil and the underside is textured, too.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Hi Darbygirl, your biscuit barrel is Bohemian, and I like the color of it very much; I would expect it to glow brightly under uv light, so it is interesting to hear that it didn't glow much for you. Anyway, the decor of your barrel is called 'Martelé' which means 'hammered' and it was made by several Bohemian glassmakers, including Kralik, Rindskopf and Loetz. I'd lean towards Kralik as the most probably maker of your barrel, myself, based on the shape and color. What a great find! :)
Very nice.
Agree with Michelle.
Thanks, all! I thought maybe Loetz - anyone seen another example online?
