Continuing the saga for KYRATANGO & EFESGIRL........
Ok girls, decided to NOT try and get the portrait out of it's mount. Decided to concentrate on what I can touch and see and fortunately the glass just falls right off so I can get a good feel of the surface.
The surface feels flat and smooth.......a tiny amount of what felt like a chalky substance was left on my finger after gently swiping the surface of the portrait. I have given the surface a good brush with a soft paintbrush which seems to have taken care of the chalky residue.
I am pretty sure now that the marks on the surface are tiny, tiny cracks kind of like crazing on pottery, and not mould or chips.
Have put a closeup of the damage and also a picture under black light just for the heck of it........lol .....don't actually know what this is telling us if anything!!!!
Anyway....have a little look and I will totally understand if you bail out of this post after this......I really don't think we can get too much further here lol!!!
I have been watching the posts about your brooch with interest Judy.
It looks very special to me. I just love the simple gold mount, and even with her problems the lady is divine.
This just gets more interesting. Your lady looks a great deal better!

Hi Pascale, thanks, glad you think she looks better now too! So back to the cupboard she will go now until next time I get the urge to try some more research on her. Appreciate all your thoughts and help on this one thanks Pascale, it has been really great commenting back and forth........
