17 inch tall figurines (told they were ivory). Chinese, I think, but do not know. Inscription/signature on bottom. No base, all one piece. Belonged to my Aunt and Uncle (deceased) but all I know is they were in their house over 50 years that I know of. They travelled to Asia a lot in the 60's & 70's.

If these were mine, I would very carefully take them to a couple high end auction houses and have them give you a free evaluation, call ahead to find out the days they do that. I would suggest you take it to more than one and get a second opinion. Sometimes you may have to wait a long time in line, but I promise, it will be worth it. Use a second one for another opinion so that you have time to think about the first one. You won't want to jump the gun so to say. It's easy to loose that way but be ready, these may be quite valuable. Very nice!

Thank you all for the info.
Fleafinder, does that calligraphy designate it was made in that era or the object itself depicts some deity or whatever from that era and could have been carved later. I do not know much about these things.
