These are the three pair of earrings what I found in the last few days in different charity shops. I never wear earrings, but I just like them. The pair at the top of the pic is a clip earring, marked Austria. The pair on the right has a long shimmery glass drop, it looks much nicer in reality. The most interesting for me are the screw back earrings with the blue glass, it looks somebody glued the screws to their back. Maybe these were buttons before? I know it is hard to guess their age, but if you have any thoughts I would be happy to hear them.

Those beautiful blue crystal earrings were made that way - not buttons in another life. I would say mid-century.

Thank you Bonnie. I was just wondering why there is a thick glue residue.

They were indeed, buttons, I've seen that style before.

Well, that clears that right up....I imagine kyra would know how to "unglue" them so they can be cleaned up and the backs properly attached. :-)))) I've never seen buttons like them.

I imagine that they are base metal, as I see what looks like a brassy color on the back of one of them.

      Nice group!

If the blue glass isn't foiled or back painted, you can soak them in aceton or in warm water before scratching the glue carefully with a needle. If the glue is epoxy, special solvant is needed...

      Found this epoxy remover (expensive...)
      Attack Epoxy Resin Glue Remover

It seems paint stripper could work too.

Thank you Davyd, Bonnie and Pascale for your comments !!!
I think I will just leave how it is. Somebody decades ago made an effort to make earrings from buttons, I don't want to destroy her work :)
By the way I think the buttons probably will be older than mid century. Just found on the net similar ones. But of course it is impossible to prove the age.
Thank you all for the love clicks!!! :)

Love the button earrings!! The info about glue is very handy.
