    I always look through the art at the second hand stores and sometimes you find a true treasure.....

    American artist Tod Lindenmuth (1885-1976).
    Tod Raphael Leroy Lindenmuth

    On Reverse;
    Tod Lindenmuth
    "The Way Home"

    18x24 (with out frame)
    Oil on board

    A founder of the Provincetown Art Association and one of the original Provincetown Printers, Tod Lindenmuth was a semi-abstract painter and graphic artist who did much to promote modernist styles. Although he was much influenced by Abstract Expressionism, his subject matter was realistic enough to be recognizable.

    Lindenmuth was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and later worked in Provincetown & Rockport, Massachusetts, with a home in St. Augustine, Florida as well. Lindenmuth was well known for his modernist, semi-abstract, and marine subject paintings

      Very what seems to be simple yet very moving painting. (I've been feeling like the mule lately so I can relate). Glad you found it and know who painted it and got good info. :)
      It's a really nice painting Mel.

      Thank you for all the lovely comments and info.

      I have emailed Provincetown Art Association and Museum hoping to get more detailed info on this painting since it's not dated maybe they have some more detailed info in the archives.

      I'll bet it was painted while he was in Florida. Those mossy trees...
