All I know about this hammer is what my father-in law told me. In the early 70's my father worked as an investment mold maker for some big companies. Companies like Aerospace, and Teledyne. These molds help build the Space Shuttle, The M16 rifle and also some repair parts for Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose. A lot of things he produced were top secret and he wouldn't let us in on it. He had an amazing career. He would bring home large bonus checks. Sometimes in the $20,000 range.I can't quite remember if it was Bell Helicopter, or McDonald Douglas Corp that he manufactured molds for but instead of a big bonus check, he asked if he could take home this hammer. Since then, we have not been able to find a lick of information on it. Now I have it and it is in the same shape as it was when it giving to him. If anyone knows anything about this special hammer, we would love to hear from you. It would shed a little.m ore light on things. Thank you.
All I know is that most brass hammers were used in areas where explosions from sparks were a concern, such as gas plants, explosive manufacturers, around gasoline etc.

Brass hammers were used in the lead mines here in Joplin, Mo. because of possible methane gas.
