From my Victorian jewelry collection, this hand-cast necklace is a wonderful string of Grotesque Faces that were used to represent different characters in Greek plays - and some Roman ones (which were all ripped off from the Greeks anyway) I haven't tested the metal content yet - it appears similar to other pieces that are 800 silver.
I believe it dates to around 1870 & was probably a tourist memento from a fashionable trip to Italy. I love the variety of the faces; faces on many similar pieces all have the same expression.
