Does anyone know about the history of this watch, what it sold for originally and when. I bought this on eBay about 10 years ago and it was sold to me by someone who had it sitting in his safe deposit box for years. I believe that I was told the total weight of the diamonds was about a carat but looking at it closely, the stones are about 1 mm in diameter which would make them about 0.01 carats each so maybe about 0.25 carats total weight. Color of the stones seems good, maybe a G, H or I. I have never seen another one of these since and I have been checking off and on for the past several years. I am guessing that the original price was in the 700 to 1000 dollar range since even a non gold Mickey Mouse Seiko Kinetic 5M42-OC19 listed at $375. Any information would be greatly appreciated and I will update this if it is possible to do so.
I also have one of these watches and can't find any information on it. Should you find anything out, please let me know.
I have the same watch with the price tag of $1,795. Reference number is SXJ952. I would be curious to know what it is worth now.
Thanks, Marie! That solves part of the mystery about this watch. Worth is relative, depends on how badly someone wants it. I suspect there are not too many of these watches around. I recently sent my Seiko Kinetic of which I know a lot were produced and they had to replace the movement so I know they still have that available. The case on the Kinetic was badly scratched so I asked them to repair or replace it and they could not do so since they were out of those cases.
At the original price of $1795 I suspect they were sold only at Disney Land and Disney World. Inflation adjusted value assuming 5% inflation and if it was sold in the 80's or 90's probably would be double. I know that I wouldn't sell mine for less than that.
Mohawk, You can not Sell or ask to Buy on Show & Tell.
Nice Watch! Dave
Markings on the back of the watch at the 12 o'clock position say 14K Gold. At bottom of case it says IN00-R952-A. The SKU lable on the box says Ladies Bracelet with the Reference Number SXJ952. There is an additional jeweler's mark of 14K on the clasp.
Very nice watch, I have one also,NIB. junkbondman stated it perfectly, worth is relative to how bad two people looking at it will go to beat out the other. Mine is one of them that is not for sale, so price doesn't enter into it, note it's insured for $2500, i know that wouldn't replace it but thats what they set it at. Hopefully this might give you an idea of worth.
You lovely folks aren't looking at this properly if you wish to put an actual value on it. The value is dictated by many things, but when it comes to collectible character timepieces, none more than it's popularity, not even it's inherent value. Because it was $1795 (which I'd like to see firm reference on) 20 some years ago, doesn't mean it's increased by the rate of inflation as was mentioned, in fact, it doesn't mean it's increased at all. With the economy, only a select few pieces even command their retail value, while others can easily command double and I'm afraid this one falls into the prior. The Mickey Diver is an excellent example, I've sold one for $1400, it's retail wasn't $400, the Mickey Chrono can sell for $500-$700 while the Kinetic brought up is commonly drawing just $200. What matters is what people seek out and one absolute is Mens Mickeys are far more coveted than womens (because current fashion makes large faced dials more popular) and sometimes if it's too rare, folks don't know it's worth. The diamonds make it a watch you probably wouldn't chose to wear at the parks. I'd hang on to it for a while, it's very pretty.

Thanks Jizzie. Still don't know when it was sold or which outlets, either Seiko or Disney. Would like to hear from some one who actually has purchased the watch from the original source to confirm Marie's price tag of $1795. I suspect that that is the correct original price. Based on the color of the stones, I think that Seiko took some care with their product. Small but high quality.
Contact Seiko. They will know.
I own one of these. It has the original price tag of $1,795.00
Try to contact with Seiko.
