I have had this basket for about 8 years now. I had put it away in storage with other things, and just the other day took it out. I have seen other baskets for sale here and there that were like this basket in design and weave, but I am not sure about this basket, as to who made it or where it was made. Can I get some help with this one?

Tlynnie- I hope someone can answer this! I have one similar to it- I don't know the proper words to describe the type of weave, but the longer vertical loops of material that link the coils together are cinched by a small horizontal loop across their center- like yours. I wasn't even certain of the cultural origin of it!

      runcible.spoon,
Thanks for your comment, I have not been around for the past month. My maternal grandmother had a very bad stroke last month and that plus the aftershocks that came afterwards have proven too much for her. She is in hospice care now and we are spending as much time as we can with her, without making her too tired. She is comfortable and that is what matters the most to us.

I would love to know what tribe makes these baskets too! I have looked for 8 years and every time I have found other baskets like this one for sale the seller does not know the tribe...figures! I just keep hoping and waiting for someone that can tell me (or us!) where this basket comes from and who made it. I feel very hopeful that it will happen, I just have to be patient. It may happen that this basket is not even Native American made, which is fine but every basket that I have seen anywhere online like this one always say the basket is Native American. Who knows? Not me, that's for sure LOL.
