I need some help....I know this trunk was made by B B & B Trunk Company in Pittsburgh, PA.[ where I live] but I can't find out any other information about it like what year it is? Did it go on the back of an old car? I did read that the company was only in business for about 10 years but that was in someones description of a trunk they were selling?I would greatly appreciate any help anyone could offer. Thank you
You're missing parts of this, it was a case made to hold something special, you can see where it fit into the case from the wear marks this is also supported by the brace or spacer on the one side but not the other. It would have been nice to see what that was....I can't really say but with handles on both ends and the general design it must haave been heavy and fraglie..maybe a display item for State Fairs or Trade Fairs....real mystery some measuring of the 'foot prints' might reveal some clues.. Happy Hunting !

hi
you ask about your trunk and yes this trunk was used on the early cars such as the packards and other cars before cars had trunks in fact that is how why we refer to today -- the transition between horse and car started in the late 1800s -- these trunks were common in the 1910s to 1930s
this is how today's cars storage area is called the trunk -- we restored one and you can see it on my site -- epson233
hope this was helpful -- epson233
