This wedding headband has been handed down through my family and I would love to know just how far back it goes.
The flowers are made of single-piece mother-of-pearl, or possibly pearlised wax, which was popular around that time.
My mother wore it for her wedding in the early 1940s but I believe it was given to her by a woman from a previous generation in the family.
It originally had a tulle veil attached.
The family is from Czech/Polish background.
Any ideas?
It would be better to post only close up photos of the band so the detail can be observed. Thanks.
I meant photographing the headband on a table, just by itself. No details can be seen in these photos.
Your mother wore it in the 1940s but there's no other concrete info about it. It could have been bought new by another family member and given to her - nobody will really know.
I have never seen anything like it and it is beautiful. Just the knowledge that your mother wore it makes it very special, if you never find out where or when it was made Is that you?? How sweet and happy with an adorable smile, probably your got that from your mother too!! Thanks for letting us look at the the amazing head band, I wonder if you took it to a bridal shop if they might have a clue. They have lots of catalogs maybe even some that go way back.(Let;s suppose they didn't stop making then in the 1940s. I assume some modern bride would love to copy that somehow!!
The closest comparison I found is this one, a modern copy of a vintage bridal headband. Scroll down to No. 7:

I found some old headpieces on the net and they are very similar to yours :

These are called fleur d'orange, made from wax. They used to be a staple of bridal attire around 1910-20, especially in Eastern Europe.
Your piece is in amazingly good condition, - those flowers flowers are fragile and can degrade from light, heat, dust etc.
