BOB DYLAN - Hard Rain, Columbia PC34349, 1976 white label demo.
So Bob Dylan wins the Nobel Prize for Literature and all I hear is a load of snarky complaints from "writers of books" disparaging the choice of a musician for the honor. Perhaps those complainers have forgotten that poetry was set to music long before it was set to a printed page. Perhaps they should listen to the final track on this album - Bob Dylan has been a voice for his generation.
Bob Dylan is likely the greatest poet/musician in modern times... and certainly one of the greatest of all times..... His lyrics encapsulate a time period in history and a generation like none other....
Brilliant, Genius, Masterful musician, Poet Laureate.... call him any of those things, or all of them. The man wrote great songs that people do not even know he wrote...... and he wrote songs that changed the way we think, the history of music, literature, and in many ways, our country......
The Times They Are a Changin'...... and no one had even the slightest clue what he meant until it happened.....
Right on Craig!
