You can find the most amazing odd things in a UK car boot sale as I did this morning.
Tebbutt and Hall foot length and toe height guage a wood constructed gauge. I've never seen one before. On the front is a millimetre guage from 100mm graduated up 300mm. On the rear is the makers name and further measurements also in millimetres from 20mm to 120mm. It has a sliding wood stopper for gauging the measurements.
Overall it is in excellent mint pristine condition. While I've had my foot measured I've never had my toe measured...have you?
A brief note about the company.
THIRTY years ago this fine business was established by Mr. J. T. TEBBUTT, Mr. W. W. HALL and Mr. J. P. HALL, and they have worked hard and conscientiously to build up a large trade, and have succeeded admirably.
In October, 1915, the business was converted into a limited liability company. The factory is large and commodious, having a capacity of 3,000 pairs weekly, and it is replete with all the best and most modern machinery for shoe manufacture. The firm have always been Army boot manufacturers, and in normal times produce Bluchers, Policemen's and Postmen's being a specialty, Navy Boots and Shoes, Sea Boots, Canvas Shoes and goods of this character.
Since the War Messrs. TEBBUTT & HALL BROS., Ltd., have produced many thousands of Army boots for the British and Allied Governments.
In all they undertake there is a high regard for the best interests of the trade and a desire to meet all the legitimate requirements.
Directors: I. W. Hall (Managing Director), W. W. Hall, J. P. Hall.
