As delicate as these sherbet cups w/ saucers seem, I still have all six in perfect condition and the silver trim is in perfect, shiny condition. I polish them gently probably once a year. The cups measure approx 2 5/8" high and the saucers have a diameter of 4.25". Saucers feature a silver shield as well as the silver bands. I cannot find any maker's marks.
I am now 75 and I remember these having been in my grandmother's house and then in my mother's house as far back as I can remember.
I have no other information about these great sherbet cups and would like to find out whatever I can. The silver band striping with the scroll work and the shield design sort of seems to be of early German Art Deco period to me and that is simply my own guestimate and I may be way off.
Whatever these are, they have made every sorbet taste better over the years perhaps they will now be properly identified with your help. Many thanks.
If this helps: The silver is fairly thick and when it tarnishes it is easily returned to its original shiny finish. All silver in original, pristine condition.
This is gorgeous! Since there is no maker's mark/silver mark then it is most likely silver overlay. I can't find this particular pattern on the web. Maybe made by Heisey.
Thanks. efesgirl. My passion also used to be finejewelry. At this point I am trying to simplify my life. I am having fun resurrecting and finding vintage catalogues from the '60's which feature a lot of the pieces I have. I used to love the original Adwar and have probably 20 pcs or so from their '67 catalogue. lol. Regards.
I'm a jewelry junkie, as you can see by my page! I also wander off into vintage handbags, ceramics and glass. I would enjoy seeing some posts of pages from of your vintage catalogs!
Hi. I posted an Adwar catalogue cover from '67-8. They worked in 14K gold and did some fantastic pieces. Above one of the pics is a bracelet I had them make up in '68. One of my favorite companies.
