I was lucky enough to get to pick through a big plastic container of jewelry that was in the basement of one of the local thrift shops. This is one of the necklaces I found there. I think these are genuine. (My knowledge of pearls fits into a thimble.) Each bead is separated with a knot. Their surface is rough. I did my best to get a close up of one of the beads. A few of them have miniscule dings on them and the color which shows through is a deep brown. You really have to search to find the dings.
Total length is 60 inches. I weighed them - 119 grams. I think their color is beautiful. The necklace is very cold to the touch.

    Thanks for stopping by.

Ashley at PurePearls.com is a gem (pun intended). She is the most knowledgable pearl maven I have ever met and from her website you can download everything you will ever want to know about pearls. She gladly shares her world class knowledge and is my go to person in all things pearls. She will tell you everything you want to know about your "find." Good luck.

      No risk for 1€!!!

Color and luster from pics don't speak real to me, perhaps Majorica...
Examine the drilled hole edge to see if it is rounded (coating) or sharp :-)

You said surface is rough, so maybe shell pearls :-)

olebodie - did that, and the surface is rough.

kyra - the drilled hole is rounded. I added another photo to show the drilled area. These beads have an almost silvery glow to them. The necklace, to see it in person, is absolutely gorgeous.

Either way, I love the necklace and will wear it. Long enough to wrap three times around my neck.
