This has been in our family for at least 60 years. We used to keep our crayons in it????. My uncle an avid collector of Native American items, said, "Empty it out and put it up!" That was over 50 years ago.

It's Hualapai, (pronounced, and sometimes spelled "Walapai," from the Grand Canyon region of Arizona. It's a twined basket, made for sale to tourists and collectors, and is one of the most common forms of Hualapai baskets. For years they've been on the lower end of the Indian basket market, and rather hard to sell, but that seems to be changing, and if it is in good-to-perfect condition, it should attract attention. Size is hard to tell from the photo. That will make a difference.
