Now time to learn. How did you date it so fast? or what did you look at to date this photo just now?
LOOSE tintype with no sign of being cased (size is most likely a little off of the standard "case" sizes) and the hairstyle/ clothing of the woman.

Welcome to CW Gregory. Hope you post some more pictures. I think she is very lovely - beautiful eyes and mouth. Just wish they were permitted to smile. There's some tartan there - don't know if that is significant.
I noticed what appears to be tartan too. She has a such a sweet face.
